xTool MetalFab: Laser Welding and CNC Cutting, Made Accessible
Metal fabrication has traditionally required either expensive industrial equipment or outsourcing the work entirely. The xTool MetalFab changes that equation. It's a fiber laser system that combines a laser welder and a CNC metal cutter in one platform, built for makers and small shops rather than factory floors.
On the cutting side, the CNC cutter handles intricate designs on metal sheet with high precision, and the system also supports handheld cutting and rust/paint removal using a laser torch — useful for on-site work, tight spaces, or freehand jobs where a fixed bed isn't practical.
On the welding side, the MetalFab uses a lightweight, quick-release welding gun and an 8-inch touchscreen with over 100 built-in parameters, so you're not manually dialing in settings for every material. It's rated to weld steel and stainless steel and cut carbon steel at thicknesses that go well beyond typical hobbyist laser gear, with a smaller heat-affected zone than traditional TIG welding — meaning cleaner seams and less warping on finished parts.
